Abstract: | An optimisation of the Galileo I/NAV message on E1-B is proposed which achieves the following three main objectives: First, the reduction of the so-called time to first fix data (TTFFD), i.e. the time to retrieve the clock and ephemeris data (CED), second, the resilience improvement of the CED against noisy and fading channels, and third, the maintenance of the backward compatibility with the current message design. The proposed scheme is based on outer Reed-Solomon (RS) coding, where both their error correction capability as well as their optimal erasure correction capability is exploited. |
