Abstract: | Determination of aggressive or normal driving behavior on a mobile phone for usage based driving insurance UBI or newdriver scoring requires determination of the phone’s attitude so that acceleration events can be classified as turning, speeding up, or slowing down. The mobile phone’s heading reference sources are often unreliable as magnetometers can have large bias errors and GNSS heading accuracy is degraded when the phone is in a pocket or purse or is face down. Methods to determine the offset between the phone’s body-frame the vehicle’s navigation frame are presented for both real-time and post processing. |
