Abstract: A systematic investigation on the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) triple-frequency combination theory is presented. Considering the combination of wavelength, noise and ionosphere amplification factor as the main index, the optimal combination strategy under different application environment is given. Then, the BDS triple-frequency optimal combinations performance about ambiguity resolution and the accuracy of relative positioning are verified by four short and long baseline static tests. Some suggestions are given for BDS relative positioning at last. Keywords: Beidou navigation satellite system; Triplefrequency combination; Relative navigation; Ambiguity fixing
