PROGRESS Project: Jamming and Spoofing Detection and Localization System for Protection of GNSS Ground-based Infrastructures

Giovanni Gamba, Andrea Dalla Chiara, Oscar Pozzobon, Damien Serant

Abstract: PROGRESS is a FP7 project focusing on the detection and mitigation of attacks to GNSS infrastructures from highly educated attackers whose numbers may increase in the near future. This paper presents one of the subsystems developed in this framework that is intended to detection and localization of Radio Frequency Interference threats, namely the Interference Detection and Localization System (IDLS). The first section describes the main project objectives and the overall concept of operation. The second section presents IDLS as a holistic response for detection and localization of both jammers and spoofers. In the third part, some preliminary results on spoofing location are offered, together testbed definition. Finally, the paper concludes with some useful considerations and future works.
