5cm in 5cm Square - RTK in a Matchbox

David Belton, Geraint Ffoulkes-Jones and Etienne Durand

Abstract: RTK (Real-Time-Kinematic) capable GPS receivers have been available for several years. However, these receivers tended to be large, heavy, power hungry devices which where often too unwieldy as an OEM module for integration into the desired end user application. NavStreamTM 100 GPS OEM platform is a single frequency receiver capable of providing 1Hz centimeter accuracy positions by utilizing its onboard RTK with OTF (On-The-Fly) ambiguity resolution algorithms. The NavStreamTM 100 platform is less than 5cm square in size, small enough to fit inside a matchbox, and requires less than 1 Watt of power at 3.3V. Raw pseudorange and carrier phase measurements are also available at higher rates for post processing applications. This paper presents the NavStreamTM 100 and 50 hardware platforms, showing results from non-differential navigation, static and kinematic RTK and OTF initializations. Details of the NavStreamTM Evaluations Kits, NavStreamTM 1000 IP (Intellectual Property) offering, and the multi-processor NavStreamTM Hydra and Intellectual Property (IP) Development platforms are also presented.
