Time and Frequency Activities at the National Physical Laboratory

Abstract: The Time and Frequency Section of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has an active program of work in time and frequency metrology. This paper provides an overview of this section’s principal activities. These include: maintenance and development of the national time scale UTC (NPL), development of a new cesium fountain clock, time-transfer activities, development of clock algorithms, technology-transfer activities, and time and frequency dissemination in the UK.
