Abstract: In ranging signals used in the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), spectrum shape which reducing Out-Of-Band (OOB) emission is important in terms of Spectral Separation Coefficient (SSC). A ranging signal generation based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) modulation is enhanced in terms of spectrum shape. But, it has a problem of Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). The Zadoff-Chu sequence, generated by OFDM modulation, is better PAPR than random signals. However, it has a still high PAPR. We propose the ranging signal of GNSS based on OFDM. By applying soft-clipping method, the proposed signal maintains the PAPR to the appropriate levels, and is able to shape a desired spectral shape. Simulation results show that the proposed method is capable of minimizing sidelobe regrowth and having the same correlation performance.
