Abstract: After the successful completion of the Galileo In-Orbit Validation Campaign and following the Launch of the first FOC satellites the Galileo System is in constant evolution towards the provision of user services. This incremental deployment together with the increasing ground segment network density and the growing ground processing capabilities will enable the provision of Initial Services based on a subset of the Galileo satellites laying the foundations for the Full Operational Capability. The incremental deployment also provides the opportunity to demonstrate in the field the feasibility of future Galileo services. Apart from the increasing number of satellites as most directly visible improvement also the Galileo Ground infrastructure is evolving from the IOV ground segment towards its full FOC scope. Early 2015 the Galileo Ground Segment underwent a major upgrade which improved the quality of the provided services. The paper describes the main evolutions of the Galileo System since IOV completion. It will be shown how the upgrades to the core infrastructure contribute to the system performance enhancements. The results obtained with the upgraded Ground Segment will be compared to the IOV performance results, showing the improved system performance quality and stability based on parameters such as Ranging Accuracy, Availability of Signals at user level. The paper will conclude sketching the roadmap towards FOC and will provide an indication of the expected performance evolution at user level.
