Implementation and Performance Analysis of a Multi-frequency GPS Signal Tracking Algorithm

Hang Yin, Yu (Jade) Morton, Mark Carroll

Abstract: Contemporary GNSS are designed to have multiple open signals at different frequencies to facilitate corrections of ionosphere errors and to provide additional assurance of signal availability in interference environment. This paper presents an adaptive algorithm to synergistically utilize energies from one or more frequencies to aid the tracking of other signals under stress. The algorithm robustness is demonstrated using real multi-frequency GPS data collected on Ascension Island during strong ionospheric scintillation in March 2013.
