Abstract: | This paper presents the Trusted Portable Navigator (T-PN) ME, which is an innovative real-time navigation software that uses inertial sensor data from multiple smart devices to more accurately locate a person indoors. The T-PN ME presented here is the multi-device extension of the T-PN product line. The T-PN ME and the underlying novel techniques benefit from this redundancy of sensors to get better navigation results. A large amount of experiments were conducted to test the T-PN ME in walking and driving scenarios using multiple portable and wearable devices used freely. Smartphones, tablets, smart watches, and head mounted systems (glasses) were used in testing. The results clearly demonstrated how the T-PN ME improved the T-PN to obtain a better navigation solution. |
