Precise Positioning in Urban Environments

Olivier Julien, Lina Deambrogio, Damien Serant

Abstract: This paper investigates the use of carrier phase measurements in an urban environment based on a low-cost (mono-frequency) and dual constellation case. First, the theoretical investigation of the optimal setting of PLL parameters is performed together with tests in a simulated urban environment Second, two positioning solution (differential carrier phase and RTK) are presented and tested in a real environment using only GPS L1 C/A measurement. Results are encouraging showing a positioning accuracy at the meter level despite the mono-constellation configuration of the test, leading to strong expectation for upcoming multi-constellation tests.
