An Automatic Tracking System for the Icelandic Fishing Fleet

Abstract:	This paper describes a study which is under way at the Engineering Research Institute of the University of Iceland to determine the technical and economic feasibility of developing an automatic position reporting system for the Icelandic fishing fleet. The general background and objectives of this project are provided and the experience gained by the development and operation of o test system is discussed as well as plans for future development of a fulI scale system.
