Abstract: | Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) technologies have superior accuracy over other forms of guidance systems for short term time periods. Long term high accuracy Global Positioning System (GPS), OMEGA, and LORAN-C systems need to be integrated with an IMU to improve their short term model. Navigation accuracy would be improved by complimenting the short term high accuracy of inertial technology and the long term high accuracy of GPS receivers. The IMU would also provide real time dynamic data of the vehicle that would improve receiver tracking in the event of radio interference and signal jamming. These system applications need a small, lightweight, rugged, high accuracy, and low cost IMU. This paper describes the build and test activity of the QUBIK IMU technology and how it is evolving to meet these system requirements. |
