Abstract: | Today's Loran-e receivers have the potential of providing the recreational boater with an excellent navigational capability and are now priced for this market. All too often the purchaser assumes that installation of the receiver is all that is required before setting out for the open seas. This paper gives an insight, with examples, as to the educational challenges facing manufacturers, retailers, and end-users, to provide the recreational boater with a navigational capability and not just a show piece of electronic hardware. |
