Terrestrial Applications of Loran
| Abstract: | Loran has been used in a number of applications for locating terrestrial vehicles, including command and control of emergency vehicles over moderate sized local areas. For nationwide tracking of trucks and similar vehicles over the entire U.S., communications via the GEOSTAR satellite have made possible the Wayfarer system distributed by SONY. Advanced loran receiver design has been required to provide nationwide operation including the "mid-continent gap" areas. |
