Abstract: Over the past two years, several authors have described, and in some cases demonstrated, the ability to perform kinematic surveys. In particular, this rapid baseline measurement technique has been applied to· surveying applications where the user is required to stop at each point and record data for a few minutes. To begin a kinematic survey, a 30 minute initialization, antenna swap, or a known baseline is required to determine the integer wavelength biases. In the past, it has been difficult to retrieve the baseline determinations from a kinematic survey since only a handful of research-oriented reduction software packages have been available. This paper will discuss the practical aspects of kinematic surveying. In particular, software will be described which has been automated for ease of use. This paper will also discuss an automated approach to minimize and correct cycle slips in the data. Some of the field considerations for kinematic surveying will be reviewed: ways to use multiple receivers: the concept of 'linked" data sets: and typical receiver configurations. Lastly, data will be presented from recent kinem
