Abstract: | This paper presents the Formal Quali&ation Test- Performance (FQT-P) results of the Modular Azimuth Position System Hybrid (MAPSH) program. The MAPSH Land Navigation and Orientation System consists of the Honeywell Dynamic Reference Unit-Hybrid (DRUH), the Precision Lightweight GPS Receiver (PLGR), the Vehicle Motion Sensor (VMS), and a system unique Control and Display Unit (CDU). The MAPSH program is being developed by the US Army PM Paladin/FAASV Program office that is upgrading the present MAPS DRU to integrate with the PLGR. The PLGR is the standard hand-held GPS receiver for the DOD, and the MAPS is the standard Land Navigation (positioning and orientation) System for the US Army. Current US Army systems using the MAPS are the M109A6 155mm Self Propelled Howitzer (Paladin), the AN/‘fPQ-3607 and AN/TPQ-37 FireFinder Radar Systems. Engineering Development Testing (EDT) was performed from May 94 thru February 95 at Aberdeen Proving Grounds (APG), Maryland and Ytmta Proving Ground (YPG), Arizona; by the Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) also at APG. Formal Qualitication Testing at the Contractor’s Plant (FQT-C) was performed from March 95 thru Get 95, and Formal Qualification Testing-Government (FQT-G) was performed from May 95 thru Nov 95. FQT-G was also performed by Aberdeen Test Center at APG and YPG. This paper provides the results of the following tests: - HMMWV Performance Testing. - M109A6 Paladin Howitzer Perhormance Testing. - TPQ-36 FireFinder Radar Performance Testing. |
