Abstract: We present a new, integrated, high-precision, 8 channel time interval counter (TIC) based on timestamps method. The mean resolution below 2 ps and measurement uncertainty better than 10 ps within a wide measurement range are achieved. To obtain simultaneously the high precision, wide measurement range and multichannel operation, the timestamps method with two-stage interpolation is applied. The TIC is integrated in a single FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) chip from the newest device family Kintex 7 manufactured by Xilinx in a 28 nm CMOS technology. The total power consumption of the TIC operating in the measurement mode with all channels involved equals 1.27 W.
