Vibration Testing of QA-5000 Accelerometers for Nonlinear Error Parameters

Richard Spencer and Steven Bongiovanni

Abstract: This paper presents the results of a test sequence conducted on 6 Allied Signal QA-5000 accelerometers. QA-5000 accelerometers are very suitable for application on the pitch and yaw axes of a strapdown inertial measurement platform. Iii that application it is imperative that nonlinearilies proportional to cross-axis acceleration be characterized. In order to determine compliance with system performance objectives, a series of vibration tests was defined to determine magnitudes of the key parameters. The objective of the vibration tests was to mea.sure the quadratic and cubic nonlinearities dependent on acceleration along the instrument pendulous and output
