Abstract: | Multipath and continuous wave (CW) interference are the important error sources for navigation applications which may cause the extra ranging errors and reduce the positioning accuracy of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers. Therefore, multipath and continuous wave (CW) interference have been analyzed separately in many papers. When multipath and interference exist at the same time, it has never been discussed whether combined effects of multipath and CW interference on code tracking performance are independent and equal to the sum of the effects of multipath and of CW interference. This paper analyzes the combined effects of multipath and CW interference on the code tracking performance of early minus late (EML) discriminator. The analytical expressions of interference and multipath error envelope (IMEE) are derived and suggested for EML discriminator. This expression can be used to assess the effects of multipath and CW interference on the tracking performance. IMEE and IEE plus MEE are also simulated and compared, and the effects of the receiver parameters and of receiving environment on the relative differences of IMEE and of IEE plus MEE are also discussed in this paper. It is shown that IMEE isn’t equal to IEE plus MEE, and the effects of multipath and CW interference aren’t independent when they exist at the same time. |
