Failure Detection and Isolation Techniques for Fault-tolerant Strapdown Inertial Measurement Systems (SIMS)

Chen Xuedong and Sun Zhaorong

Abstract: Usually, the Edge Vector Test (EVT) algorithm is applied to perform the management of Failure Detection Isolation and system Reconfiguration (FDIR) for the fault-tolerant SIMS. Two disadvantages of the conventional EVT algorithm are discovered by the authors, and a new concept of failure identification, which can get rid of detection singularity and incorrect identification of the conventional EVT algorithm, is put forward. Additionally, the detection threshold, which varies in line with the vehicle’s motion, is discussed in this paper.
