Abstract: | This paper will discuss how the GPS Operational Control Segment is evolving from a mainframe-based architecture to a distributed, modular architecture. The new architecture will ease future enhancements and ease the incorporation of new functionality into GPS. This paper will detail the architecture evolution approach that is being implemented by Lockheed Martin Federal Systems Company. Specifically, the architecture evolution goals, the phases of the Architecture Evolution Plan, and the risk mitigation approach will be discussed. |
