Effect of User Antenna Group Delay Variation Error on Advanced RAIM

Abstract: This study investigates the impact of antenna group delay variation (AGDV)-induced error on advanced receiver autonomous integrity monitoring. We model the AGDV error contribution not only as a measurement bias but also as a random process sigma term in protection-level computations by using AGDV errors analyzed within the European Dual Frequency Multipath Model for Aviation (DUFMAN) project. We also apply the new multipath and AGDV error models developed for aviation use to assess the availability of localizer performance with vertical guidance down to 200 feet. The results show that the fraction of users with =99.5% availability increases by approximately 5% when the newly derived DUFMAN models are used. In contrast, considering the AGDV effect alone as the worst-case bias has a weaker impact at the current user range accuracy standard.
