Abstract: Knowledge of the times of sunrise and of sunset is useful for such purposes as: (a) the planning of naval tactical maneuvers; (b) determining the approximate time for dawn and dusk stellar observations in navigation; (c) finding the time for morning and evening colors. In each case an approximate value is adequate for the purpose involved
