MINIMAL FLIGHT PATHS

Irving I. Gringorten

Peer Reviewed

Abstract: This report is written to advance the technique of plotting shortest-time flight paths. After a short theoretical analysis, the method is presented for plotting a minimal or shortest-time flight path, which will require from 7 to 27 minutes to complete. In the discussion, questions are anticipated and answered. It is expected that the method will be satisfactory for nonstop flights over 500 miles in range.
