Abstract: | Apparently the principle of the Orfordness radio beacon has not been applied to optical lighthouses. Operation of this sort would form an easy extension of the ordinary technique and would provide improved service by permitting determination of the azimuth of a vessel from a lighthouse or aircraft beacon without reference to the course or attitude of the vessel. |
