Abstract: | In reference to the note entitled “A New Name for the Sidereal Hour Angle” (NAVIGATION, Vol. 1, No. 4, 92-93, December 1946), I want to add my hearty endorsement of the proposed new term versed ascension for which the symbol v (not likely to be confused with that for velocity or true anomaly), v.a., or V.A., might be used as a replacement for what L.J. Comrie has so justly called "that supreme example of meaningless nomenclature"-sidereal hour angle. |
