Abstract: | The history of navigation is replete with many instances of the need for rapid and accurate computational methods. Indeed, we have progressed far from the old days when navigational astronomy was considered too academic for those that follow the sea in ships. Try, if you will, to project yourself back in time to the days when the following advice was accepted.
