BUREAU OF SHIPS CONTRIBUTIONS TO NAVIGATION

Captain A. L. Becker

Peer Reviewed

Abstract: As Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Ships for Electronics, I am struck by the extent of the contribution being made to navigation by electronics. On the one hand, the usefulness of Basic Navigational Aids, the principles of which have been known for a long time, is being extended by electronics. On the other hand, new electronic devices open up unlimited avenues for navigational aid development.
