Abstract: | The Corps of Engineers has long been directly interested in water as one of this country’s natural resources. Continuously since 1824, at the direction of Congress, we have been planning, constructing, and maintaining river and harbor improvements to provide adequate and safe waterway transportation. Our civil works program has produced a system of harbors and inland waterways unequalled in the world. |
