Abstract: | So much ingenuity and mathematical skill have been directed to the problem of the fix from altitudes of two celestial sights that there is little room for any revolutionary improvement of the art. The present method makes use of two parts of the astronomical triangle which have not hitherto received much attention. They are the constant angular length of the great circle arc between two fixed stars and the angle at one of the stars which this arc makes with the hour circle of the star. |
