Abstract: | In September 1994, RTCA initiated an effort to produce Minimum Aviation System Performance Standards (MASPS) for DGNSS Instrument Approach Systems (DIAS) to support precision approaches with minima equivalent to those of ILS/MLS Categories II and III. A brief review is presented of previous RTCA DIAS standards activities and a summary of recent progress toward operational implementation of conforming systems is given. The scope and schedule of the Category II/III effort, including its Terms of Reference and recent efforts, are then discussed. The paper concludes with a review of pertinent Category II/III DIAS programs, trials and demonstrations that have been presented to the RTCA Cat II/III MASPS Development Team in its meetings to date. |
