NORWAY-ALASKA VIA 900 NORTH LATITUDE

Captain Charles F. Blair, Jr.

Peer Reviewed

Abstract: My crossing of the North Pole in an F-51 Mustang on May 29, 1951, from Bardufoss, Norway, to Fairbanks, Alaska, has been described in some detail in several magazines by the date of this publication. However, in those articles, the navigation preparation may have been buried in the other details. It is my intention here to describe the navigation problem and place due emphasis upon the important role of precomputation and pre-planning.
