Abstract: | In this paper it is shown that navigational formulae can be much simplified by suitable choice of reference stars. The equations obtained for latitude and longitude are easily solved and, using appropriate tables, with little effort. The present cumbersome methods of finding position on the Earth’s surface can be frequently superseded by simpler and more direct methods. |
