Abstract: Averaging of celestial observations is still necessary in aircraft.l It is even more essential today than it was in lower, slower flying aircraft. Will the aircraft observer always "know" whether the sight is a good one? With a bubble sextant, the instant the bubble is stopped and exact collimation is easiest is the instant of maximum acceleration and maximum error in the sight.
