| Abstract: | The publication of the details of our preliminary correspondence on this subject is unfortunate as giving a misleading implication of the actual facts which appeared later and were not known to Mr. Winters and Mr. Rankin. In response to his enquiry, Mr. Rankin was given the information published and asked if he desired further information when available; he did not reply. Full details of the origin of the table of Standard Dome Refraction in the Air Almanac were obtained early in March from the British Air Ministry and are summarised below, with their permission; through an oversight this information was not passed to Mr. Rankin. |
