NAVIGATION INSTRUCTION AT THE UNITED STATES MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY

Rear Admiral Gordon McLintock, USMS

Peer Reviewed

Abstract: We at the United States Merchane Marine Academy feel sure that the Academy symbolizes many of the precepts and aims sponsored by you gentlemen who have made, individually and collectively, so many contributions to the art-science of navigation. I know that no one more than our friends, the air people, realize that marine navigators are not passe but still very much in the limelight. The premise that no profession in the world is so thoroughly conservative as the mariner’s no longer holds true. The new generation of marine navigators is showing as much enthusiasm for our technological innovations as those of you who pilot our aircraft.
