Abstract: | Federal Telecommunication Laboratories was established in 1941 as the primary research and development facility for the International Telephone and Telegraph Corporation in the United States. Roots of the early organization extend in two directions: The first to Federal Telegraph Company, founded in Palo Alto, California, in 1909; and to a group of European scientists brought here by Colonel Sosthenes Behn, founder and then-president of IT&T. |
