RANGE PERFORMANCE OF MARINE RADAR

David E. Kenyon

Peer Reviewed

Abstract: Summary A UNIQUE CHARACTERISTIC of the marine radar situation is the existence of a second path of signal propagation by way of the reflective sea surface. For this reason, the marine radar range equation differs from the more conventional expression in several important respects, a careful examination of which can point the way to maximum performance coupled with minimum cost and power consumption in a commercial product.
