Abstract: THE WRITER WAS ENGAGED by the Argentine Naval Hydrographic Office from September 15, 1958, to April 15, 1959, as a combined observer and instructor in the 1958-53 Argentine Naval Antarctic Expedition. Specifically, I was assigned to instruct and train Argentine Hydrographic officers in the observation and data reduction procedure of establishing astronomic positions with a theodolite on ice under circumstances of being transported to remote points from a self-sustaining antarctic base. Instruction and training in establishing astronomic positions with a zenith camera in Tierra Del Fuego at the conclusion of the expedition were also included.
