Abstract:	The Institute has received and approved a report from its Oceanographic Committee under the chairmanship of Rear Admiral Charles W. Thomas, United States Coast Guard (ret.). A meeting of the Committee at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, D.C., was attended by the chairman, and by Dr. Lionel A. Walford, Chief Biologist of the United States Bureau of Commercial Fisheries of the Department of the Interior (guest of the committee) ; Mr. William H. Littlewood and Mr. M. H. Schefer of the Hydrographic Office; Mr. William H. Allen of the I.G.Y. program; and Captain Paul S. Bauer, USNR (ret.), as secretary.
