Abstract: Today we enjoyed an introduction to the problems which lie ahead of us in our efforts to penetrate the vast reaches of space. Many of the steps we will have to take in attaining our objectives will of necessity stem from what we have done to owercome the obstacles to safe flight we have encountered in conventional aircraft and in the high-performance vehicles we are learning to master for tomorrow's needs.
