Abstract: | At 0703 est on 13 April 1960, the Navy's first experimental transit navigation satellite was placed in orbit about the earth. This test, the second of a series which began in September 1959 and which will continued through 1962, represents a major milestone towards the establishment of a "new look" in the United States Navy; a major milestone in the exploitatiion of space and space systems to allow the Navy to achieve ever-in-ereasing effectiveness in maintaining this natiion's sapower. |
