Abstract: | The Honeywell HG1930, is a Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that measures angular rates and linear accelerations. It was specifically designed for navigation, control, and platform stabilization of numerous tactical applications. The HG1930’s extremely small package size, light weight, and low power make it ideal for guidance and control of UAVs, projectiles, missiles, and munitions. Pinnacle to the outstanding tactical performance of the HG1930 is Honeywell’s designed, developed, and manufactured MEMS gyros and accelerometers. In addition, the HG1930 offers many configurable features, such as programmable data rate output and flight control filtering, to simplify system integration. Numerous technological advances have taken place in the Honeywell MEMS based inertial products over the past decade via a spiral development design process. Continuous product improvement and robust qualification procedures have increased design margin for existing applications, while simultaneously demonstrating capability for new, more demanding missions. The HG1930 has been successfully deployed by the US military, international militaries, and commercial businesses on a wide range of weaponry, Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV), and platform stabilization applications. This paper presents an overview of the HG1930, including information on its design, features, performance, and rigorous qualification process. |
