Abstract:	The Federal Aviation Agency is again honored and indeed pleased to have been invited to present papers and participate in discussions of The Institute of Navigation. We stand on the brink of a new era in aviation, namely, the supersonic jet transport age, just as in the not-too-distant past we faced the jet age. This conference should prove to be most thought-provoking and productive in the development of ideas to solve the new and more numerous problems that face us.
