Abstract: During the past decade the space allowed the navigator in high-performance tactical and strategic type aircraft has become progressively smaller. Continued addition of electronic bombing equipment and numerous personal equipments required for human survivan have limited the navigator's freedom to use standard sextants in their present configuration. These restrictions brought about the development of the Baird-Atomic AQU-1/A sextant which is an aircraft bubble-type periscope sextant.
