2. OCEANOGRAPHY IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (WHAT LIES AHEAD FOR OCEANOGRAPHY?)

Abstract: My remarks will concern the organization of oceanography within the federal Government, and in particular the efforts now being made to coordinate the programs of all of tht agencies. In order to give you some idea of the reasons behind the present drive for coordination, I will list the Government organizations dirretly concerned with oceanography. There are eight agencies involved, and within most of these agencies involved, and within most of these agencies there are several different offices.
