Abstract: As a result of improved weapons systems capabilities and tactical doctrine, an increased emphasis has been placed on low-level missions by the tactical strike forces. Heretofore, navigation to teh target are has been strictly a pilotage problem with the results dependent on the available quantity of visual aids to navigation. Extended over-water flights and inclement weather conditions have limitrd the capability of the fighter pilot to accomplish his assigned mission.
