INTERPLANETARY NAVIGATION

Lt. Cdr. Edward F. Oliver

Abstract: The navigation handed the noon position report to the captain, "I estiamte the ETA for rendezvous with Martian orbit at 2300 GMT." "Very well, calculated the thrust vector using an acceleration of G to the minus three." President Kennedy forecast such a conversation aboard a U.S. Naval spaceship recently when he described space as "A new ocean the United States must sail." From the accelerated pace of our space program, it appears probable that United States's spaceships will be in operation within the next two decades.
