Abstract: | This paper discusses some aspects of high altitude, supersonic flight which should be considered in the design of the SST communications system. Emphasis is placed on the need for a high degree of coordination between the flight crew, air traffic controller, meteorologist, and dispatcher/performance specialist. A brief description of pertinent B-58 aircraft operational experience is offered in support of the suggestions made regarding the nature of the information which should be communicated. |
